FRISIAN COUNTRYSIDE LOFT

While designing the upholstery for the red chairs, we decided to go bold and really work with the association the color red gave us. For me that was courage, punk, and spirit. These elements became the starting point for the other design choises. It was an absolute adventure to create this room, to see how all the elements came together and complimented eachother in such an unusual way.

It was immediately clear that this space should become a beautiful orangery. But not a regular one. In the process we got inspired by the desert. It’s beautiful colors, the different sand tones and browns that create warmth.

A scenery from a fairy tale about a wealthy sultan. The exotic animal statues give the room even more narrative and whimsical feel. To me it’s a tribute to the beauty and mystery of far-off lands.

We tried to keep most of the old elements of the house intact, which resulted in a very authentic and pure outcome. Combining the different art and furniture pieces made it an absolute delight to work on.

The painting of the woman that is overlooking the room, is the mother of the owner of the place. It was painted in a time that two men were very much in love with her. One of these men was the painter of this piece, to show her how much he cared. Unfortunately for him, she wasn't convinced and chose the other fellow. Despite that, it wasn't made for no good; it's an absolute stunning centerpiece in the room.
